Getting Started

Speedster Showdown is the 26 July 2025 Roblox PvP revival of Sonic Showdown (first created 12 September 2023, later taken down). Denzee and the Speedster Showdown group reuploaded the place, transferred gamepasses, and removed licensed music, voicelines, and card quotes. You drop into live player-versus-player lobbies. Your first hour should be join, pick a readable kit, survive, and leave with binds you trust.

Open the official Roblox experience, wait for the character select, and do not panic-buy Early Access. The gamepasses guide exists for later. Day one is free kits, free deaths, and a like on the game if you plan to stay — Roblox discovery still cares about that button. Then join the group’s Discord from the in-game socials or the links hub so you hear when a code or rotation changes.

Pick Sonic or another simple striker

Start on Sonic unless you already main a similar battlegrounds kit. His M1 string is readable, his dash angles match the rest of the cast, and the mastery path later splits into Dark Sonic and Knight of the Wind. You do not need that split on day one. You need three punches, a block, and a dash that does not send you off Green Hill’s waterfall.

If Sonic’s silhouette feels too fast, stay on a straightforward striker rather than jumping to Mecha Sonic, Infinite, Starved, or the exclusive names. Mecha is Early Access with no awakening yet. Infinite’s base kit arrived with the Knight of the Wind update and also has no awakening yet. Horror guests and exclusive slots (Goku, 2017 X, Emde Dev) will farm you while you are still learning F and Q. The roster and tier list can wait until you can block a three-hit string.

Learn M1, block, and dash before anything flashy

Official binds from the experience description:

  • Left click punches (M1). Most strings are three hits. Stop mashing after the third if you have not learned the follow-up.
  • F blocks. Hold the guard; tapping it for a frame and then walking is how you eat a full combo.
  • Q dashes. Direction plus Q is your evade, your gap closer, and the start of dash stun.
  • Q+W or right click is boost / forward attack. Treat it as part of movement, not a secret tech you unlock later.
  • Hold Space and left click for uppercut. That confirm is the difference between a poke and a real punish.

The full table, mobile caveats, and why Q+W matters live on Controls and Movement. Print the controls cheatsheet if you keep forgetting Space. After you can block and dash without looking at the keyboard, open the Combos Guide and lab a single route — three M1s, uppercut, dash stun — on whoever is standing still in a quiet server.

Phone players report clunky controls. If you are on mobile, expect worse dash precision and harder uppercut timing. Play anyway, but do not assume a PC combo video will paste 1:1 onto a thumb layout.

Do not buy Early Access first

Early Access is about 299 Robux and currently gates WIP-style access such as Mecha Sonic and Infinite. Those kits can feel strong, unfinished, or both. They are not a substitute for block discipline. VIP, PS+, Kill Sounds, accessories, awakening outfit selector, extra emote slots, Mastery, and the Bizarre Villains emote pack are also optional. Buy them after you like the game, not to skip the tutorial you never got. Community gifts and codes are listed under community rewards and the codes hub.

Practice on less sweaty servers

The mode is online PvP. Stacked lobbies will dash stun you on spawn, third-party you on Tails Doll Cove, and pop awakenings into your respawn. Server-hop until names look less like a highlight reel. Green Hill Zone is a better classroom than Cove: hills, a waterfall bridge, and a wooden spawn give you readable height. Marble Zone is large but fights get cramped. Cove is the biggest map and the easiest place to get collapsed on. Vote notes and geometry are on Maps and Rotations. Map rotation also changed with the Knight of the Wind update.

Unlocking is playtime and kills, not a hidden campaign

Most of the public roster opens as you play. Masteries are the long tail. Dark Sonic is an edgy Super-style variant. Knight of the Wind is a full alternate Sonic-line moveset, not an ultimate skin. Community guesses for that unlock sit around 300 to 400 Sonic kills plus about ten hours — that is not official. Confirm the live requirement in Discord before you schedule a weekend around it. Details and the distinction versus Dark Sonic are on the masteries guide and the Sonic roster page.

Awakening bars fill from damage and kills. Do not pop the moment the bar lights up if the opponent still has evasive and you are standing on a cliff. Read Awakenings after you have died enough to care. Cutscenes still play; voicelines do not, because the reupload stripped them.

First-hour checklist

  1. Join the Roblox place and finish character select without buying EA.
  2. Pick Sonic or a simple striker.
  3. Hold F, dash with Q, punch three times, then try hold-Space uppercut.
  4. Like the experience if you intend to return.
  5. Join Discord so codes and patch notes reach you.
  6. Hop off sweaty servers until you can land a three-hit string.
  7. Die on Green Hill on purpose: learn the bridge, the hills, and the wooden spawn.
  8. Bookmark this wiki’s combat hub, tier list, and updates.

When a clip drops for a community-requested update, watch it for silhouettes and map shots, not for restored music. The sneak-peek video on this page is that kind of footage. After it, go back into a lobby and repeat M1, block, dash. Your second session is combos and maps. Your third is a real main from the roster and a glance at matchups. Unlock grinding starts after you can survive a minute without eating a full Metal or Starved string you have never seen.

If you only remember four things from this walkthrough: play Sonic first, hold block, do not buy Early Access on impulse, and practice where people are worse than you. Everything else on the wiki multiplies those four habits.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which character should I pick on day one?

Pick Sonic or another simple striker. Save Early Access kits, horror guests, and Knight of the Wind until M1, block, and dash are automatic.

Should I buy Early Access before I play?

No. EA is optional, around 299 Robux, and currently aimed at WIP kits. Like the game and learn binds first; see the gamepasses guide.

How do I unlock more characters and masteries?

Playtime and kills open most of the roster. Knight of the Wind community guesses are unofficial — confirm in Discord, then read masteries.

Where should I practice besides stacked PvP lobbies?

Server-hop to quieter rooms and fight on Green Hill before Tails Doll Cove. Movement binds are on controls.

Is Speedster Showdown a new game or a revival?

It is the 26 July 2025 reupload of Sonic Showdown (created 12 September 2023, taken down). Gamepasses transferred; licensed audio did not.
