Speedster Showdown Beginner Tier List
Who is easy to confirm, and who will dump your first ten public matches.
A beginner tier list for Speedster Showdown is not a copy of the S-tier poster with extra padding. It answers one question: if you just installed a Roblox PvP battlegrounds that released on 26 July 2025, which portraits will teach block, dash, and a confirm before they punish you for existing? The September 2026 community snapshot still puts Knight of the Wind, Infinite, Starved, and Metal Sonic in S for kill potential. That is not where you start.
If you have not finished the getting started guide, do that first. Controls are F to block, Q to dash, Q plus forward to boost, right click for a forward attack, left click to punch, and hold space plus left click to uppercut. A kit that needs a five-second invuln puddle or a copied move on a 5-second cooldown is a poor classroom for those buttons.
Easy: Sonic, Knuckles, Amy
Sonic is the teaching hedgehog. The current base kit is readable: a dash-in, a grab, a parriable air kick, a counter. Super Sonic is a bar you can understand. You do not need Dark mastery and you do not need Knight of the Wind on day one. Sonic is on the easy list because missing a dash is obvious and the punish is usually your own endlag, not a five-move loop you cannot see.
Knuckles is the teaching brick. Drills hit the floor. Earthquake Trigger in Hyper Knuckles is a shockwave you can aim with your feet. Beginners who hate hedgehog timing often land here and stay for a week. He is B on the main snapshot and A-plus on a “can I press the ground” snapshot. That is the point of this page.
Amy is the teaching hammer. Rose Radiance can wait. The hammer tells you when you mashed. If you cannot delay a swing, every other mix-up on the roster will feel like noise. C on the main list, recommended here anyway.
Tails is tempting because flight looks friendly. He is still C and still readable, but the aerial slam is easier to drop than Amy’s hammer. Put Tails on week two, not minute two. Rouge is the same advice with more air.
Execution-heavy: Metal Sonic, Mephiles, Infinite
Metal Sonic is S on the main snapshot and a trap on this one. Metallic Rush is blockable. Lock-On is unblockable and parriable. All-Seeing Observation copies a base move at 0 damage and then inherits that cooldown. New players press Observation, steal a random tool, and die in the leftover cooldown. The ceiling is real. The floor is a puddle. Lab him after you can already parry Lock-On on defense.
Mephiles is B on the main snapshot and execution-heavy here. Shade Dive is 22 damage, 20 seconds, five seconds of invulnerable puddle. Clutching Shadows is a 26-damage grab on 30 seconds. Dark Stab is a counter-cinematic. If you dive in the open because you are scared, you have spent the only unique resource the kit has. Play Knuckles until spending a cooldown feels like a choice.
Infinite is S on the main snapshot because of a homing unblockable starter and 180-damage reports, and he is a poor beginner main because that starter is the whole identity while the awakening is still missing. Eating the starter ten times as the defender teaches you more than maining the jackal cold. When you do pick him, accept that there is no ult to hide in.
Starved is also S and also a bad first kit. Infinite-combo reputation plus a domain-style awakening plus mild-fear presentation is three reasons to wait. Knight of the Wind is a full Sonic-line character with 180-damage base reports and still wants you to know Sonic’s dash first. Super can wait. Dark can wait. KOTW can wait until the getting started habits exist.
A simple first-week ladder
Matches 1–10: Sonic on Green Hill Zone. Learn block and dash. Do not spend Super unless you already have a knockdown.
Matches 11–20: Knuckles on the same map. Learn a floor confirm. Ignore Hyper Beatdown history; it is not your button.
Matches 21–30: Amy, still on Green Hill or Marble Zone. Learn a delayed hammer. Then peek at Blaze if you want fire, or at Shadow if you want to try a hold-charge Chaos Blast without leaving the “readable hedgehog” family.
After thirty matches, open the PvP tier list and pick one S-tier kit to lab in training, not in a revenge queue. Metal Sonic if you like copy puzzles. Knight of the Wind if you like the Sonic line. Not both in the same hour.
What beginners over-buy
Early Access Mecha Sonic has no ult. Exclusive Goku and 2017 X are not beginner tools. Emde Dev is not a public lesson. Eggman looks like a simple doctor and then asks you to manage a summon, item boxes, and an incomplete Death Egg. Silver looks like a projectile hero and then asks you to live with a nerfed meteor and a community rework request. Those kits can be fun. They are not the classroom.
Horror kits are an opt-in. If mild fear is fine, Lord X’s counter is more beginner-honest than Starved’s loop. If it is not fine, stay on Amy.
Ease versus letters
The main snapshot’s C-tier is full of kits that are easier than its S-tier. That is not a contradiction. Kill potential and ease are different questions. This page answers ease. The awakening tier list answers ults. The roster answers buttons. If you only memorize S, you will main Infinite, drop the homing starter, and decide the game is broken. It is not broken. You skipped the classroom.
Maps for new players: Green Hill Zone is honest. Marble Zone is a ledge class. Tails Doll Cove can wait until Tails week. HILL and Baseplate Spire are visibility tests. Starved Lair is not a beginner map vote.
Finish the getting started checklist, play Sonic until a missed dash makes you laugh instead of mash, then play Knuckles until the floor is a plan. Amy is the bonus lesson if you still swing too early. Everything labeled execution-heavy on this page is homework for week three, and the S-tier poster will still be there when you can parry Lock-On.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Who should I pick for my first public match?
Sonic, Knuckles, or Amy. Read the getting started guide for controls, then stay on Green Hill Zone until dash and block are automatic.
Why not start on Metal Sonic if he is S-tier?
S is kill potential and ceiling. Metal Sonic’s copy tool and parriable Lock-On punish mashed Observation. Lab him after you can already parry, not as a first main.
Is Infinite beginner-friendly because the damage is high?
No. The homing unblockable starter and 180-damage reports are why he is S on the main list and execution-heavy here. He also has no awakening yet.
Should beginners play Starved or Knight of the Wind?
Not first. Starved’s loop and Lair are a lot of kit at once. Knight of the Wind is a full Sonic-line character that makes more sense after you already know Sonic’s dash.
When do I switch from this list to the main snapshot?
After you can block, dash, and name one confirm. Then open the PvP tier list and pick a single S or A kit to lab, using the roster for buttons.
